A longer and more varied trek to the Base Camp, which is in fact the old Mt. Everest expedition route used on the first successful ascent. Begin our journey overland to Jiri a small town approximately 110+ miles away from the bustles of Kathmandu. This approach engages a lot of attention as it involves walking at altitudes between 6,000ft to 18,000ft. However this route is drive-able up to Bhandar, so its no point staying overnight in Jiri and wasting a whole day trek to Bhandar.
The trek begins with gradual climbs and occasional descends with wonderful alpine scenery and a pattern that will become familiar as days pass by. However, this trail is relatively underdeveloped compared to the trail from Lukla onwards. Never the less it provides extraordinary insight into many conventional aspects of lives from different ethnic groups of Tamang, Kami, Brahmins, Chetris, Newars & Sherpas. A highlight among this trail is the overnight stop at Junbesi, Oldest Sherpa settlement in Solu region.
