Langtang Valley Trekking in Nepal lies in the north of Kathmandu, is fairly readily available. It is mainly inhabited by Tamang and Sherpa ethnic groups of Tibetan origin. This trek leads to the foot of glaciers closing the north valley, offers beautiful views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung (7,246 meters), while moving at a reasonable altitude. The trail passes through several villages where there are meals and lodgings. It is possible to return to Kathmandu via the path through the sacred lakes of Gosainkund, a place revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. The Langtang trek can also be paired with Trek in Helambu Sherpa country but then requires crossing the pass La Ganga, a deemed very difficult to pass 5106 meters.
